Welcome to the British Beermat Collectors Society website.
Here you should find everything you want to know about our society and all things beermat collecting in the UK. You can find out our history, what we do, how we catalogue beermats, where your local meetings are, how to join, all about our prestigious beermat design annual awards and more importantly, how we raise money for charity every year.
There’s also information on beermats in general and tips on collecting and links to other sites related to brewery history or collecting breweriana.
Each year through our meetings and “shop” we aim to raise as much money as we can for our various charities. As well as supporting our “National” charity, most of our smaller meetings also support individual charities local to their own area or even on behalf of the landlord/landlady or venue.
2017’s charity was Guide Dogs for the Blind. At the National meeting held in Burton-on-Trent last December we raised £4537 from the 10p/20p sales of new issues, older mats brought out of our stores and through a special auction of rarer mats. A special thank you goes out to all our members who not only worked hard to make sure that the National went well, but for their hard work throughout the whole year on setting up, running and supporting meetings. A massive thank you to all the Breweries and Individuals who’ve donated mats for us for our charity work along the way.
Each year Guide Dogs for the Blind provide help to thousands of blind and partially sighted people across the UK through the provision of guide dogs, mobility and other rehabilitation services. They also raise awareness and campaign for the rights of those with visual impairments and invest in eye disease research.
You can find out more about them and the great work they do here
In 2016 we raised £3,000 for Prostate Cancer UK from our National meeting.
